The Discover-NOW team, hosted by Imperial College Health Partners, is characterised by creativity, diversity, enthusiasm and hard work. With a range of different backgrounds from clinicians to economists, we are all motivated by unlocking the potential of health data for research.

Managing Director

Axel has been involved with Imperial College Health Partners since its conception in 2011 as an Interim Director and joined the Partnership full-time in August 2013 as Director of Strategy and Commerce. As of September 2016 Axel was appointed as Managing Director and of Discover-NOW as it formed. He is also Visiting Professor at the Institute of Global Health Innovation.

Prior to joining the Partnership, Axel was Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He brings a broad range of experience from academia and central government where he was Deputy Director and Chief Analyst at the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit in the Cabinet Office and No 10.

Executive Director

Amy joined Imperial College Health Partners as Director of Communications and Engagement in June 2013 and is now an Executive Director. Amy is also leading on the Public Trust workstream for Discover-NOW. She is passionate about using communications and engagement as a strategic leadership tool and believes both are central to the effective delivery of change, ultimately improving services for patients and the public.

Prior to joining the Partnership, Amy held a number of senior roles in communications and engagement in the NHS; working at national, regional and local levels across both provider and commissioning functions.

She brings a broad range of experience ranging from stakeholder and patient engagement to public affairs and strategic communications. Amy has a degree in Public Relations.

Associate Director of Business Development and Commercial

Danny Bosch joined Imperial College Health Partners as Associate Director of Business Development and Commercial in September 2022. He is passionate about innovation and has a strong drive to make a meaningful impact to patients’ lives around the globe.

Prior to joining the Partnership, Danny supported organisations with their commercial strategy to turn investment into impact. He brings a broad range of international experience from academia, government, and industry (early-stage ventures to multinationals). He has expertise in international industry and academic R&D, commercialisation, procurement, and management consulting. His background in healthcare & life sciences, Ph.D. in Biomedical sciences, and current undertaking of an executive MBA, allows him to apply scientific method to business growth catalysation.

Reuben Lewis

Associate Director for Analytics and Data Partnerships

Prior to joining ICHP in November 2022, Reuben worked for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) for just over 10 years. He has significant experience in the delivery of clinical research working at site-based, regional and national roles.

He has experience in partnering and collaborating with the NHS, academia, the life science industry and small/medium enterprises (SMEs). As well as bringing great knowledge of the wider UK research landscape and infrastructure.

Reuben holds a BSc in Pharmacology from King’s College London, and an MSc in International Health Management from Imperial College London Business School. He is a accredited mentor and coach.

Maria Brezitski

Head of Real-World Evidence Trials

Maria is an NMC registered professional with extensive acute clinical and research work experience within NHS, academia, and private settings.

Prior to joining ICHP in July 2023 Maria held positions of a Senior Clinical Trials Manager in UCL/UCLH NHS trust, a Policy Manager and a Project Lead of a high-profile programme within HRA (Health Research Authority) and positions of clinical research practitioner/nurse delivering trials/studies of various clinical specialties in academia and NHS.

Maria’s experience is well complimented by MSc in Clinical Drug Development, NIHR Advanced Leadership Programme, Diploma in Life Coaching and MSc in Psychology.

Maria’s additional roles include:

  • Alternate Vice Chair/expert member for Research Ethics Committee (HRA)
  • Independent external NIHR research studies reviewer
  • Member of the NICE Adoption and Impact Reference Panel

Evgeniy Galimov

Evgeniy Galimov

Data Scientist

Evgeniy is a researcher and data scientist with experience in research in ageing and age-related diseases. He studied bioengineering and bioinformatics and received PhD from Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Evgeniy’s early research was devoted to molecular mechanisms of cancer, atherosclerosis and neurodegeneration, later he switched to modelling the evolution of ageing and published several papers about it.

Evgeniy also has start-up experience and applied machine learning to predict lifespan in model organisms and coronary heart disease in patients based on blood biomarkers

Sadie Myhill

Sadie Myhill

Senior Engagement and Involvement Lead

Sadie joined ICHP as Senior Engagement and Involvement Lead in March 2021, with a focus on developing and delivering strategic patient and public programmes. Sadie supports the Public Trust workstream of Discover-NOW.

Prior to joining the partnership, Sadie held roles at Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation; collaborating with internal and external partners to embed involvement into their plans. More recently she has also acted as a consultant to Healthwatch Camden, supporting their Integrated Care Partnership work.

She is passionate about engaging people in their healthcare and creating meaningful opportunities for their voices to be heard.

Ben joined Imperial College Health Partners as Health Research Senior Manager in 2022.

Prior to this, Ben was Operations Manager of the Future Vaccine Manufacturing Research Hub at Imperial College London, where he managed a clinical trial of an innovative RNA Covid-19 vaccine candidate in Uganda. He was also previously the Research Coordinator to a large research group at Imperial active in regenerative medicine, nanomedicine, tissue engineering, chemistry, and biology.

Ben was a postdoctoral researcher and group leader in Berlin, Germany, active in biomaterials research, following his PhD in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina.

Sandeep is an expert in information management and data analysis with vast experience at senior level with the NHS, local councils and the private sector.

His most recent roles as an information consultant involved data modelling, dashboard development and providing business intelligence support to various stakeholders including colleagues from CCGs, specialised commissioning, dental, public health, armed forces and health in justice teams.

Sandeep has a postgraduate degree in computer science and is PRINCE2 practitioner qualified.

Tomasz Szymanski

Tomasz Szymanski

Head of Health Economics

Tomasz is a former consultant at the World Health Organization where he focused on noncommunicable diseases (NCD), related tools and a UN Global Pulse project in partnership with Microsoft on the value of big data in retrieving evidence for policy making in NCD.

His previous experience also includes leading a team at the Government Agency for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in Poland. He is due to graduate from Imperial College London with a PhD in Health Economics and his research focuses on medicine optimisation, primarily on cost-effectiveness analysis and the wider economic impact of medication review.

He has created two de novo cost-effectiveness models for medication review and examined the impact of complex healthcare interventions on economic evaluations.

Marcus joined ICHP as a Senior Data Analyst in March 2021. Marcus has several years’ experience in NHS analytic roles, providing high quality reporting at both commissioner and trust level in London. He specialises in complex SQL data extraction and creating attractive and interactive data visualisations that aid the communication of insights.

Marcus has a BSc in Medical Genetics from Queen Mary, University of London.
