British Journal of Haematology
Vaso- occlusive crises (VOC) are a key clinical feature of sickle cell disease (SCD). These unpredictable, painful events are a frequent cause of hospitalisation. Using patient data from the longitudinally linked Discover dataset, covering a registered population of 3.4 million in North West London, this study aimed to quantify the frequency of VOCs. and resource utilisation consumed across all type of healthcare services.
